                     Biography

Georgian pianists Natia and Tamar Beraia have been playing piano duo since early childhood. Musical inspiration came from their mother, who is also a professional pianist and played piano duo with her friend. The sisters were surrounded by classical music, and playing piano duo was their most noteworthy activity.

Natia and Tamar Beraia were born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1986 and 1987 respectively. Their first piano lessons were from their mother at the age of five. Soon they entered Z. Paliashvili Music School for Gifted Children in the class of Dodo Tsintsadze. In 1997, the sisters had great success in their first International Piano Duo Competition, Sister and Brother in St. Petersburg, Russia, where they received First Prize and three Special Prizes. That same year, Natia and Tamar were invited to Cremona, Italy to take part in the International Festival Bravo Bravissimo.

The next step in their professional biography was in Tbilisi at the V.Sarajishvili State Conservatory, where the sisters enrolled in the class of Prof. Nana Khubutia (2003-2009). During those years, they actively continued playing together and, with the support of the Michel Sogny Foundation's SOS Talents, they performed in many international festivals in Switzerland, France, Serbia, etc. By invitation of Georgian pianist Eteri Andjaparidze, Natia and Tamar Beraia performed recitals in Chicago, USA. In 2012, the sisters were invited by famous Canadian pianist Janina Fialkowksa to play a piano duo recital in the Marktoberdorf piano festival.

Now, the sisters live in different countries. Natia lives in Tbilisi, Georgia, while Tamar lives in Bern, Switzerland. Besides the piano duo, the sisters are enjoying successful independent solo piano careers.
